Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Retires

The Green Bay Packers quarterback for the past seventeen seasons has been Brett Favre. Brett decided on Tuesday that after seventeen long seasons he is emotionally and mentally drained and that he would retire. Brett has been toying with the idea for the past few seasons and many of the Green Bay Packers team and fans probably knew it was soon to come.

Brett Favre says he can still play football but the fact he is so drained mentally is the reason he is retiring this off-season. I think the Packers made a nice run this season and with almost making the Superbowl I would have thought Brett might stay another year. I hate to see him leave on that interception late against the Giants although I’m sure nobody will remember him by that one interception.

Favre played seventeen seasons with the Green Bay Packers and he was named MVP of the league three times throughout his career. He also set many records which I can’t even picture a quarterback being able to break for years to come. Brett Favre broke all of these records throughout this season and I can see how it’s been mentally draining for him. Here are the four huge records Brett broke this year in Green Bay.

1. Most Touchdown Passes Brett Favre – 442
2. Most Passing Yards Brett Favre – 61,655
3. Quarterback Win By Starter Brett Favre – 160
4. Interceptions Brett Favre – 288

Brett Favre will always be remembered as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game of football and to his opponents he will be remembered as one of the fiercest competitors of all-time. Brett Favre is a guaranteed selection into the hall of fame and will definitely be a first ballot inductee. The hall of fame is the biggest accomplishment for any football player to achieve and Brett Favre deserves to be on a pedestal when he is inducted.

I would like to end this report with adding a few personal thoughts. I would of loved to see Brett Favre been able to win a Superbowl and I think it’s terrible that he never did win one. Green Bay should have tried harder to pick up free agent Randy Moss and then I think Brett Favre would of stayed with the team this year and tried to go for a Superbowl run with Moss and himself.

I think with Moss they could have won the Superbowl this year but I guess that would be strictly speculation since we will never know the answer to this. Brett Favre is one of my favorite players ever to play football and he has been playing since I was age 1. When you watch Favre playing you never know what could happen and he had such a strong powerful arm that he could throw it downfield on you anytime and surprise the defense.

I wish Brett Favre and his family the best of luck with their newer peaceful lives. I would love to see Brett Favre think about becoming a commentator someday as I feel he’d be perfect for it. I’m sure after the initial relaxation period with his family he may consider becoming a commentator only time will tell. In the meantime lets work on getting him inducted into the hall of fame and start developing Aaron Rodgers.

About Sports Affinity Credit Cards

Affinity cards are a special kind of credit card which are linked into the cardholder’s lifestyle in some way, offering benefits of a more personalized nature than the typically available 0% balance transfer offers and the like. Examples of affinity programs are charity credit cards, where a donation is made to a particular charitable organisation whenever the card is used, or a travel rewards card which lets you build up points which you can redeem against a hotel chain or airline which you use frequently.

A further type of affinity card is becoming more and more popular: the sports team affinity card, aimed at supporters of a particular football team or other sporting club.

The most obvious difference between a sports card and a normal one is in the actual appearance of the card, which will generally feature the logo or badge of the team chosen. This in itself is a desirable feature for many fans, as it’s a very visible declaration of your allegiance to your team, and is sure to attract comment from other fans.

Perhaps the most important aspect of sports affinity cards is a financial one, however. In much the same way as charity credit cards work, a sports card lets you contribute to the financial wellbeing of your team with no direct cost to yourself. A small percentage of everything you spend will be donated by the card issuer to the team linked to the card account, and while this may amount to only a small sum in the case of individual cardholders, the money involved can mount up quickly if thousands or tens of thousands of people regularly use the card.

In many cases, the money raised by starting a sports affinity card program will be used by the team involved to fund the longterm health of the club, often by investing in youth academies and development. This means that by using the card for regular spending, you’re helping to secure the success of your team well into the future.

Not only can your card use benefit your team, it can also feature attractive personal benefits such as discounts on club merchandise, a rewards scheme where you can build up points to offset against the costs of buying tickets, or even priority access to big games, depending on the specific card involved.

So, are there any downsides? Like all credit cards that offer some sort of tempting carrot to entice people to apply, the benefits offered need to be paid for somehow, and this is usually in the form of a higher standard APR or interest rate. It’s unlikely that you’ll find an affinity card of any variety listed in the ‘best value’ or ‘lowest APR’ tables. If you use your card for borrowing rather than simply as a convenient payment method, the sports-related benefits may well be overshadowed by the increased costs of the card.

Having said that, unless you’re planning to carry a substantial balance on your card from month to month, the headline interest rate is perhaps not as important to you as the fact that your card will be showing your support for your team both visibly and financially.

How To Become An Nfl Player Part 3

In my first two articles on how to become an NFL player, I discussed the work you need to do to in the class room, the community, and how to take care of your body to increase your odds of becoming an NFL player. You can see these articles at my blog at

In this article I am going to discuss the specific football drill skills you need to develop to make you look attractive to college football scouts. For maximum results, I recommend that you work on these drills with a strength coach or a professional trainer.

Here are the drills you need to master:

* Vertical Jump – designed to test leg strength and lower-body explosiveness.

* Broad Jump – designed to show sluggishness, heavy-leggedness and lack of explosiveness.

* 225-lb. Bench Press – designed to test the upper-body strength of a player.

* 40-Yard Dash – times show how explosive a player is off the line and how he maintains it.

* 20-Yard Dash – times show how explosive a player is off the line and how he maintains it.

* 10-Yard Dash – times show how explosive a player is off the line.

* 20-Yard Shuttle – designed to test explosiveness, how a player bends and changes direction, and body control.

* 60-Yard Shuttle – designed to test explosiveness, flexibility, and body control; and a subtle test of endurance.

* 3-Cone Drill – designed to test a player’s efficiency in changing direction moving left and right, explosiveness, balance, body control and mobility.

The most important skills to master are the 40-yard dash and the 3-Cone drill. The reason these two drills are so important is they help football coaches determine what positions you are best suited to play.

You should know that the speed players are completing these drills has been improving every year. This is because more and more high school and college players are working with professional sports trainers to help them maximize their performance.

Below I have listed the minimum times you need to have by position if you want to impress college football scouts. One thing to keep in mind for these tests is the size of the player. Smaller players should have an advantage over their bigger counterparts in regard to speed. If you are a big player, it says a lot about your athletic ability if you perform well in these drills.

40-Yard Dash:

QB: 4.7 seconds or faster
RB: 4.5 seconds or faster
WR: 4.4 seconds or faster
FB/TE: 4.7 seconds or faster
OL: 5.2 seconds or faster
DT: 5.1 seconds or faster
4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB: 4.8 seconds or faster
4-3 OLB: 4.7 seconds or faster
ILB: 4.7 seconds or faster
S: 4.5 seconds or faster
CB: 4.5 seconds or faster

3-Cone Drill:

QB: 7.1 seconds or faster
RB: 7.1 seconds or faster
WR: 7.0 seconds or faster
FB/TE: 7.2 seconds or faster
OL: 7.8 seconds or faster
DT: 7.7 seconds or faster
4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB: 7.2 seconds or faster
4-3 OLB: 7.1 seconds or faster
ILB: 7.2 seconds or faster
S: 7.1 seconds or faster
CB: 7.0 seconds or faster

In summary, to become a professional football player, you must master the skills colleges and NFL teams use to measure the quality of an athlete. If you want to make it to the NFL, you should work with a professional sports trainer to help you maximize your performance so you can achieve and exceed the drill speed times discussed above. Other athletes are doing this and for you to compete with them, you need to do it too.

Finding the Most Diverse Sports Store

Odds are, if you enjoy one athletic activity, you probably enjoy a few others as well. Finding people to keep up with your active lifestyle can sometimes be challenging, but finding gear doesn’t have to be. If you are determined to buy all of your sporting goods in one place, you will find that there’s a sports store for you.

Health and fitness are becoming a much more regular part of the society today, and with this increased interest in physical fitness, there are more stores selling the right equipment. Many chains are popping up around the country that offer all of the usual gear: running shoes, compression shorts, jump ropes, and all other varieties of equipment. Despite this, not every sports store carries everything that you need, especially if you are interested in more extreme outdoor activities.

When you have a real drive for that active lifestyle, you know that there is simply no good time to have down time. You have an activity for every season and for every occasion, always working to keep your heart pumping. During the summer, you might be caught playing some disc golf and during the winter your friends will find you skiing on the slopes. If this describes you, then you need more than the run of the mill sporting goods retailer.

Fortunately, finding a sports store that can keep up with your lifestyle is not a fantasy. In fact, many cities around the country have one or more all-purpose stores that offer this type of equipment. Rather than having to go from shop to shop hoping you find what you need, this helps eliminate your trips and allows you to get everything in one place.

Of course, the last thing you want to do is trade convenience for quality or price. In other words, you need to be careful when you find an all-purpose sports store to ensure that you are not purchasing inferior quality goods. Fitness and activity may be important, but inferior products could lead to injury, which is something you never want to endure. Similarly, buying your products in one place should help lower your overall cost, so don’t waste time shopping at a place that will inflate prices just because of the convenience factor.

Ultimately, a good sports store will offer equipment and apparel for a variety of different activities. Whether you are looking to get gear for your competitive sporting event or simply looking to prepare for another outdoors adventure, having the right store in mind can make your supply run that much easier. This will help ensure you always have the right equipment when you need it, and that you will never have a dull moment.
